The TVS Ntorq 150 is a scooter from TVS Motor. It is currently on sale. Scooters are made for easy city riding: automatic, step-through and usually with storage under the seat. With a 149.6 cc engine it sits in the larger, 150 cc-plus scooter class.
Power comes from a 149.6 cc single-cylinder air-cooled fuel-injected engine that makes 13.2 PS at 7,000 rpm and 14.2 Nm of torque at 5,500 rpm. Divide power by kerb weight and it has about 115 PS per tonne; by that measure, there is enough go for confident city riding and relaxed highway cruising. The claimed top speed is 104 km/h. It has electric start.
It uses an automatic (CVT) transmission, so there are no gears or clutch to work — you twist the throttle and go.
It is built around an underbone frame. Suspension is by telescopic suspension with hydraulic dampers at the front and coil spring with hydraulic dampers at the rear. Braking is by a 220 mm disc at the front and a 130 mm drum at the rear, with single-channel ABS. Single-channel ABS works on the front wheel, which does most of the stopping. It rides on 12-inch alloy wheels with tubeless tyres — 100/80-12 at the front and 110/80-12 at the rear.
The seat is 770 mm off the ground, which is low and makes it easy to put your feet down. It weighs 115 kg ready to ride, light enough to push around and park easily. Ground clearance is 155 mm — adequate, though tall speed breakers need care. It is 1,861 mm long, with 1,285 mm between the axles. It carries 5.8 L of fuel.
Equipment includes a digital instrument console, an LED headlamp, Bluetooth connectivity, turn-by-turn navigation, USB charging port, call and SMS alerts, distance-to-empty readout, mobile app connectivity, daytime running lamps and real-time mileage indicator, among others. Safety equipment includes side-stand warning, engine kill switch, hazard light switch, traction control, low fuel indicator and malfunction indicator. It has two riding modes: Race and Street.
The manufacturer's warranty is 5 years/50000 kms. It comes with 3 free services, the first due at 500-750 km or 30-60 days. For the TVS Ntorq 150, Mechiee offers a fixed ₹899 doorstep service.
It is best suited to city errands and riders who would rather not shift gears. Its low seat also makes it approachable for shorter and newer riders.
Recommended tyre pressures are 24 psi front and 32 psi rear riding alone, and 24 psi front and 36 psi rear with a pillion. The published service intervals are 1st service at 500-750 km or 30-60 days, 2nd service at 5500-6000 km or 180 days and 3rd service at 11500-12000 km or 365 days.
