The TVS Jupiter 125 is a scooter from TVS Motor. It was launched in 2021 and is still on sale. Scooters are made for easy city riding: automatic, step-through and usually with storage under the seat. With a 124.8 cc engine it sits in the 125 cc scooter class.
Power comes from a 124.8 cc single-cylinder air-cooled fuel-injected engine that makes 8.15 PS at 6,500 rpm and 10.5 Nm of torque at 4,500 rpm. Peak torque arrives low in the rev range, at 4,500 rpm, which makes it relaxed to ride in traffic. Its stroke is longer than its bore (53.5 mm x 55.5 mm), a long-stroke layout that generally favours low-down pulling power. Divide power by kerb weight and it has about 75 PS per tonne; by that measure, there is enough go for confident city riding and relaxed highway cruising. The claimed top speed is 84 km/h. It has both electric and kick start.
It uses an automatic (CVT) transmission, so there are no gears or clutch to work — you twist the throttle and go.
It is built around a high rigidity underbone type frame. Suspension is by telescopic hydraulic forks at the front and twin tube emulsion type shock absorber with 3 step adjustment at the rear. Braking is by a 130 mm drum at the front and a 130 mm drum at the rear, with a combined braking system (SBT). Using the rear brake lever also applies some front brake, which shortens stops for riders who lean on the rear brake. It rides on 12-inch alloy wheels with tubeless tyres, 90/90 -12 at both ends.
The seat is 765 mm off the ground, which is low and makes it easy to put your feet down. It weighs 108 kg ready to ride, light enough to push around and park easily. Ground clearance is 163 mm — enough for most speed breakers. It is 1,852 mm long, with 1,275 mm between the axles. Its 5.1 L fuel tank and claimed mileage of 50 kmpl work out to roughly 255 km per tankful on paper; real-world range is usually lower.
Equipment includes an analogue and digital instrument console, an LED headlamp, USB charging port, distance-to-empty readout, mobile app connectivity, real-time mileage indicator and service due indicator. Safety equipment includes side-stand warning, engine kill switch, low fuel indicator and malfunction indicator. It has two riding modes: Eco and Power.
The manufacturer's warranty is 5 years/50000 kms. For the TVS Jupiter 125, Mechiee offers a fixed ₹899 doorstep service.
It is best suited to city errands and riders who would rather not shift gears. Its low seat also makes it approachable for shorter and newer riders.
