The TVS Ntorq 125 is a sport scooter from TVS Motor. It was launched in 2018 and is still on sale. Scooters are made for easy city riding: automatic, step-through and usually with storage under the seat. With a 124.8 cc engine it sits in the 125 cc scooter class.
Power comes from a 124.8 cc single-cylinder air-cooled fuel-injected engine that makes 7 kW at 7,000 rpm and 10.6 Nm of torque at 5,500 rpm. Its stroke is longer than its bore (53.5 mm x 55.5 mm), a long-stroke layout that generally favours low-down pulling power. Divide power by kerb weight and it has about 86 PS per tonne; by that measure, there is enough go for confident city riding and relaxed highway cruising. The claimed top speed is 94 km/h. It has both electric and kick start.
It uses an automatic (CVT) transmission, so there are no gears or clutch to work — you twist the throttle and go.
It is built around a high rigidity underbone tubular type frame. Suspension is by telescopic suspension with hydraulic dampers at the front and coil spring with hydraulic dampers at the rear. Braking is by a 220 mm disc at the front and a 130 mm drum at the rear, with a combined braking system. Using the rear brake lever also applies some front brake, which shortens stops for riders who lean on the rear brake. It rides on 12-inch alloy wheels with tubeless tyres — 100/80-12 at the front and 110/80-12 at the rear.
The seat is 770 mm off the ground, which is low and makes it easy to put your feet down. It weighs 111 kg ready to ride, light enough to push around and park easily. Ground clearance is 155 mm — adequate, though tall speed breakers need care. It is 1,861 mm long, with 1,285 mm between the axles. Its 5.8 L fuel tank and claimed mileage of 41-48.5 kmpl work out to roughly 281 km per tankful on paper; real-world range is usually lower.
Equipment includes a digital instrument console, an LED headlamp, turn-by-turn navigation, USB charging port, call and SMS alerts, mobile app connectivity, daytime running lamps and service due indicator. Safety equipment includes synchronised braking technology (SBT). It has two riding modes: Street and Sport.
The manufacturer's warranty is 5 years/50000 kms. It comes with 4 free services, the first due at 500-750 km or 60 days. For the TVS Ntorq 125, Mechiee offers a fixed ₹899 doorstep service.
It is best suited to riders who want performance and sharp handling. Its low seat also makes it approachable for shorter and newer riders.
Recommended tyre pressures are 24 psi front and 28 psi rear riding alone, and 24 psi front and 36 psi rear with a pillion. The published service intervals are 1st service at 500-750 km or 60 days, 2nd service at 2500-3000 km or 120 days, 3rd service at 5000-6000 km or 240 days and 4th service at 8500-9000 km or 365 days.
