The Triumph Scrambler 1200 is a motorcycle from Triumph. It is currently on sale. With a 1,200 cc engine it sits in the big-bike, 800 cc-plus class.
Power comes from a 1,200 cc twin-cylinder liquid-cooled engine that makes 89 bhp at 7,000 rpm and 110 Nm of torque at 4,250 rpm. Peak torque arrives low in the rev range, at 4,250 rpm, which makes it relaxed to ride in traffic. Its bore is wider than its stroke (97.6 mm x 80 mm), a short-stroke layout that generally favours higher revs. Divide power by kerb weight and it has about 396 PS per tonne; by that measure, it is genuinely fast, well beyond everyday traffic speeds. It has electric start.
It has a 6-speed manual gearbox with a 1-down, 5-up shift pattern, and a chain carries drive to the rear wheel. Its slipper clutch lightens the lever and stops the rear wheel hopping when you downshift hard.
It is built around a tubular steel frame. At the front, the suspension is upside down forks. At the rear, it is marzocchi twin RSU’s with piggyback reservoir, preload adjustable rear suspension. Braking is by a 310 mm disc at the front and a 255 mm disc at the rear, with dual-channel ABS. ABS on both wheels keeps either tyre from locking under hard braking. It rides on 21-inch front and 17-inch rear spoke wheels with tubeless tyres — 90/90 - 21 at the front and 150/70 - R17 at the rear.
The seat is 820 mm off the ground, which is about average and suits most riders. It weighs 228 kg ready to ride, which is heavy, so parking and tight U-turns need care. The wheelbase is 1,525 mm. It carries 15 L of fuel.
Equipment includes 5 " TFT Display, an LED headlamp, USB charging port, gear position indicator, quickshifter, shift light, engine temperature indicator and low fuel indicator. Safety equipment includes engine kill switch, side-stand engine cut-off, side-stand warning, hazard light switch, traction control and malfunction indicator. It has four riding modes: Rain, Road, Sport and Off-Road and Rider.
