The Triumph Scrambler 900 is a motorcycle from Triumph. It is currently on sale. With a 900 cc engine it sits in the big-bike, 800 cc-plus class.
Power comes from a 900 cc twin-cylinder liquid-cooled engine that makes 64.1 bhp at 7,250 rpm and 80 Nm of torque at 3,250 rpm. Peak torque arrives low in the rev range, at 3,250 rpm, which makes it relaxed to ride in traffic. Its bore is wider than its stroke (84.6 mm x 80 mm), a short-stroke layout that generally favours higher revs. Divide power by kerb weight and it has about 291 PS per tonne; by that measure, it is genuinely fast, well beyond everyday traffic speeds. The claimed top speed is 175 km/h. It has electric start.
It has a 5-speed manual gearbox with a 1-down, 4-up shift pattern, and a chain carries drive to the rear wheel. It uses a wet multi-plate clutch.
Its frame is tubular steel, with twin cradles. Suspension is by Ø 41mm forks with cartridge damping at the front and twin shocks with adjustable preload at the rear. Braking is by a 310 mm disc at the front and a 255 mm disc at the rear, with dual-channel ABS. ABS on both wheels keeps either tyre from locking under hard braking. It rides on 19-inch front and 17-inch rear spoke wheels with tubeless tyres — 100/90 - 19 at the front and 150/70 - R17 at the rear.
The seat is 790 mm off the ground, which is about average and suits most riders. It weighs 223 kg ready to ride, which is heavy, so parking and tight U-turns need care. Ground clearance is 157.5 mm — adequate, though tall speed breakers need care. It is 2,125 mm long, with 1,445 mm between the axles. Its 12 L fuel tank and claimed mileage of 23 kmpl work out to roughly 276 km per tankful on paper; real-world range is usually lower.
Equipment includes a semi-digital instrument console, a halogen headlamp, USB charging port, distance-to-empty readout, gear position indicator, service due indicator, shift light, engine temperature indicator, low fuel indicator and low oil indicator. Safety equipment includes engine kill switch, side-stand engine cut-off, side-stand warning, hazard light switch, traction control and malfunction indicator. It has two riding modes: Road and Rain and Off-Road.
Warranty terms: Unlimited km or 2 years. For the Triumph Scrambler 900, Mechiee offers a fixed ₹8,499 doorstep service.
With this much performance, it is better as a step-up bike than a first bike.
Recommended tyre pressures are 30 psi front and 36 psi rear, solo or with a pillion. Its chain drive needs regular cleaning, lubrication and slack adjustment.
