The Suzuki GSX-8R is a motorcycle from Suzuki. It is currently on sale. With a 776 cc engine it sits in the middleweight 450–800 cc class.
Power comes from a 776 cc twin-cylinder liquid-cooled engine that makes 81.8 bhp at 8,500 rpm and 78 Nm of torque at 6,800 rpm. Its bore is wider than its stroke (84 mm x 70 mm), a short-stroke layout that generally favours higher revs. Divide power by kerb weight and it has about 405 PS per tonne; by that measure, it is genuinely fast, well beyond everyday traffic speeds. It has electric start.
It has a 6-speed manual gearbox with a 1-down, 5-up shift pattern, and a chain carries drive to the rear wheel. Its slipper clutch lightens the lever and stops the rear wheel hopping when you downshift hard.
At the front, the suspension is SHOWA inverted telescopic, coil spring, oil damped. At the rear, it is SHOWA link type, mono shock, coil spring, oil damped. Braking is by a 310 mm disc at the front and a disc at the rear, with dual-channel ABS. ABS on both wheels keeps either tyre from locking under hard braking. It rides on 17-inch alloy wheels with tubeless tyres — 120/70 - ZR17 at the front and 180/55 - ZR17 at the rear.
The seat is 810 mm off the ground, which is about average and suits most riders. It weighs 205 kg ready to ride, which is on the heavy side, so moving it by hand takes some effort. Ground clearance is 145 mm — adequate, though tall speed breakers need care. It is 2,155 mm long, with 1,465 mm between the axles. Its 14 L fuel tank and claimed mileage of 23.8 kmpl work out to roughly 333 km per tankful on paper; real-world range is usually lower.
Equipment includes 5 " TFT Display with Brightness Control, an LED projector headlamp, gear position indicator, quickshifter, shift light, engine temperature indicator and low fuel indicator. Safety equipment includes engine kill switch, side-stand engine cut-off, side-stand warning, hazard light switch, traction control and malfunction indicator. It has two riding modes: Mode A and Mode B and Mode C.
The manufacturer's warranty is 30,000 km or 2 years. For the Suzuki GSX-8R, Mechiee offers a fixed ₹2,999 doorstep service.
With this much performance, it is better as a step-up bike than a first bike.
Its chain drive needs regular cleaning, lubrication and slack adjustment.
