The TVS Apache RTR 200 4V is a sports motorcycle from TVS Motor. It was launched in 2016 and is still on sale. Sports bikes put performance first, usually with a sportier riding position and sharper handling than everyday bikes. With a 197.8 cc engine it sits in the 150–250 cc class.
Power comes from a 197.8 cc single-cylinder air- and oil-cooled fuel-injected engine that makes 20.82 PS at 9,000 rpm and 17.25 Nm of torque at 7,250 rpm. Its bore is wider than its stroke (66 mm x 57.8 mm), a short-stroke layout that generally favours higher revs. Divide power by kerb weight and it has about 138 PS per tonne; by that measure, it is lively, with easy overtakes and relaxed highway speeds. The claimed top speed is 127 km/h. It has electric start.
It has a 5-speed manual gearbox with a 1-down, 4-up shift pattern, and a chain carries drive to the rear wheel. Its slipper clutch lightens the lever and stops the rear wheel hopping when you downshift hard.
It is built around a double cradle split synchro stiff frame. Suspension is by telescopic suspension with preload adjuster at the front and mono shock at the rear. Braking is by a 270 mm disc at the front and a 240 mm disc at the rear, with dual-channel ABS. ABS on both wheels keeps either tyre from locking under hard braking. It rides on 17-inch alloy wheels with tubeless tyres — 90/90-17 at the front and 130/70-17 at the rear.
The seat is 800 mm off the ground, which is about average and suits most riders. It weighs 151 kg ready to ride. Ground clearance is 180 mm — enough for most speed breakers. It is 2,020 mm long, with 1,353 mm between the axles. Its 12 L fuel tank and claimed mileage of 37-40 kmpl work out to roughly 480 km per tankful on paper; real-world range is usually lower.
Equipment includes a digital instrument console, an LED headlamp, Bluetooth connectivity, turn-by-turn navigation, call and SMS alerts, gear position indicator and daytime running lamps. Safety equipment includes side-stand warning, engine kill switch, hazard light switch, low fuel indicator and malfunction indicator. It has three riding modes: Rain, Sports and Urban.
