About the TVS Apache RR 310

Overview

The TVS Apache RR 310 is a sport motorcycle from TVS Motor. It was launched in 2017 and is still on sale. Sports bikes put performance first, usually with a sportier riding position and sharper handling than everyday bikes. With a 312.2 cc engine it sits in the 250–450 cc class.

Engine and performance

Power comes from a 312.2 cc single-cylinder liquid-cooled fuel-injected engine that makes 28 kW at 9,800 rpm and 29 Nm of torque at 7,900 rpm. Its bore is wider than its stroke (80 mm x 62.1 mm), a short-stroke layout that generally favours higher revs. Divide power by kerb weight and it has about 219 PS per tonne; by that measure, it is lively, with easy overtakes and relaxed highway speeds. The claimed top speed is 164 km/h. It has electric start.

Gearbox

It has a 6-speed manual gearbox with a 1-down, 5-up shift pattern, and a chain carries drive to the rear wheel. Its slipper clutch lightens the lever and stops the rear wheel hopping when you downshift hard.

Chassis, brakes and tyres

Its frame is trellis frame, split chassis. Suspension is by inverted cartridge telescopic fork at the front and Two-arm aluminium die-cast swingarm with mono tube shock at the rear. Braking is by a 300 mm disc at the front and a 240 mm disc at the rear. It rides on 17-inch alloy wheels with tubeless tyres — 110/70-ZR17 M/C 54W at the front and 150/60-ZR17 M/C 66W at the rear.

Size, comfort and range

The seat is 810 mm off the ground, which is about average and suits most riders. It weighs 174 kg ready to ride, which is on the heavy side, so moving it by hand takes some effort. Ground clearance is 180 mm — enough for most speed breakers. It is 2,001 mm long, with 1,365 mm between the axles. Its 11 L fuel tank and claimed mileage of 30-40 kmpl work out to roughly 440 km per tankful on paper; real-world range is usually lower.

Features and equipment

Equipment includes 5-inch TFT connected cluster, an LED projector headlamp, ride modes (Urban, Rain, Sport, Track), bi-directional quickshifter, electronic throttle control, 5-inch TFT with SmartXonnect connectivity and race telemetry. It has four riding modes: Track, Rain, Sports and Urban.

Owning one

The manufacturer's warranty is 2 years/30000 kms. It comes with 3 free services, the first due at 1000 km or 60 days. For the TVS Apache RR 310, Mechiee offers a fixed ₹2,199 doorstep service.

Who it suits

It is best suited to riders who want performance and sharp handling.

Care notes for this model

Recommended tyre pressures are 32 psi front and 32 psi rear, solo or with a pillion. The published service intervals are 1st service at 1000 km or 60 days, 2nd service at 5000 km or 180 days and 3rd service at 10000 km or 365 days. Its chain drive needs regular cleaning, lubrication and slack adjustment.

Maintaining the TVS Apache RR 310

  • Routine servicing

Follow the schedule in the owner's manual for your exact variant and year. A regular service is the cheapest way to catch small problems before they become expensive ones.

  • Engine oil & filter

Engine oil is the single most important consumable to keep fresh. Top up between services if the level drops, and change it on schedule.

  • Brake inspection

With Petal disc - 300 mm with ABS and Petal disc - 240 mm with ABS brakes, check pad or shoe wear, lever and pedal free play, and braking feel at every service.

  • Chain cleaning & lubrication

A clean, correctly tensioned and lubricated chain lasts longer and wastes less power. Check slack regularly, especially after riding in rain or dust.

  • Coolant & cooling system

A liquid-cooled engine relies on coolant. Check the level and look over hoses and the radiator for leaks or damage, and replace coolant as the owner's manual directs.

  • Air filter & spark plug

A clogged air filter or worn spark plug shows up as hard starting, weak throttle response and poorer fuel economy. Both are checked at a regular service and replaced when worn.

  • Disc brake fluid

Brake fluid absorbs moisture over time, which lowers its boiling point. Have its level and condition checked and change it on the interval in the owner's manual.

  • Tyre inspection

This bike runs 110/70-ZR17 M/C 54W, tubeless / 150/60-ZR17 M/C 66W, tubeless tyres. Check pressure, tread depth and sidewalls, and replace tyres that are worn or cracked.

  • Battery & electricals

The battery is listed as 12 V, 8 Ah. Weak starting, dim lights or a flickering console are early signs the battery or charging system needs a look.

TVS Apache RR 310 specs explained

What the technical terms on this page mean.

ABS
Anti-lock braking system. It stops a wheel locking up during hard braking so the rider can keep steering. A single-channel system works on one wheel, usually the front; a dual-channel system works on both.
Fuel injection
Petrol is delivered by an electronically controlled injector instead of a carburettor, which helps with easy starting and steady fuel economy.
Liquid cooling
Coolant circulates through the engine and a radiator, keeping temperatures steadier than air alone, especially in traffic or under load.
Assist and slipper clutch
The assist part makes the clutch lever lighter. The slipper part eases the rear wheel's tendency to hop when you shift down hard.
Ride-by-wire
The throttle grip sends an electronic signal instead of pulling a cable, which allows features such as ride modes and cruise control.
Petal disc
A brake disc with a wavy outer edge. The shape helps shed heat and water and is also a styling cue.
Trellis frame
A frame built from tubes arranged in triangles, which gives strength without much weight.
Tubeless tyres
Tyres with no inner tube. A small puncture usually loses air slowly, which makes roadside repair easier.
Kerb weight
The weight of the bike ready to ride, with its fluids and fuel, but without a rider or luggage.
Bore x stroke
The cylinder's width and the piston's travel. A larger bore relative to stroke tends to favour revs; a longer stroke tends to favour low-speed pull.
