The Suzuki V-Strom SX is an adventure tourer motorcycle from Suzuki. It was launched in 2022 and is still on sale. Adventure bikes are built to travel long distances on good and bad roads alike, typically with long-travel suspension and an upright riding position. With a 249 cc engine it sits in the 150–250 cc class.
Power comes from a 249 cc single-cylinder oil-cooled fuel-injected engine that makes 26.5 PS at 9,300 rpm and 22.2 Nm of torque at 7,300 rpm. Its bore is wider than its stroke (76 mm x 54.9 mm), a short-stroke layout that generally favours higher revs. Divide power by kerb weight and it has about 159 PS per tonne; by that measure, it is lively, with easy overtakes and relaxed highway speeds. The claimed top speed is 140 km/h. It has electric start.
It has a 6-speed manual gearbox with a 1-down, 5-up shift pattern, and a chain carries drive to the rear wheel. It uses a wet multi-plate clutch.
It is built around a diamond frame. Suspension is by telescopic, coil spring, oil damped at the front and swingarm type, coil spring, oil damped at the rear. Braking is by a 300 mm disc at the front and a 220 mm disc at the rear, with dual-channel ABS. ABS on both wheels keeps either tyre from locking under hard braking. It rides on 19-inch front and 17-inch rear alloy wheels with tubeless tyres — 100/90-19 at the front and 140/70-17 at the rear.
The seat is 835 mm off the ground, which is on the tall side, so shorter riders may want to try it first. It weighs 167 kg ready to ride. Ground clearance is 205 mm — plenty for broken roads and tall speed breakers. It is 2,180 mm long, with 1,440 mm between the axles. Its 12 L fuel tank and claimed mileage of 36 kmpl work out to roughly 432 km per tankful on paper; real-world range is usually lower.
Equipment includes a digital instrument console, an LED headlamp, Bluetooth connectivity, turn-by-turn navigation, USB charging port, windscreen and gear shift light. Safety equipment includes side-stand engine cut-off.
The manufacturer's warranty is 2 years or 30,000 km. It comes with 3 free services, the first due at 750-1000 km or 30-45 days. For the Suzuki V-Strom SX, Mechiee offers a fixed ₹1,399 doorstep service.
It is best suited to long-distance touring and roads of mixed quality.
Recommended tyre pressures are 22 psi front and 29 psi rear, solo or with a pillion. The published service intervals are 1st service at 750-1000 km or 30-45 days, 2nd service at 4500-5000 km or 165-180 days and 3rd service at 9500-10000 km or 350-365 days. Its chain drive needs regular cleaning, lubrication and slack adjustment.
