The Indian 101 Scout is a motorcycle from Indian Motorcycle. It is currently on sale. With a 1,250 cc engine it sits in the big-bike, 800 cc-plus class.
Power comes from a 1,250 cc liquid-cooled engine that makes 112.54 bhp and 109 Nm of torque at 6,300 rpm. Its bore is wider than its stroke (104 mm x 73.6 mm), a short-stroke layout that generally favours higher revs. Divide power by kerb weight and it has about 458 PS per tonne; by that measure, its performance is at superbike level and rewards an experienced rider. It has electric start.
It uses a wet multi-plate clutch.
Suspension is by inverted telescopic cartridge fork / 120 mm at the front and dual piggyback shocks / 76 mm at the rear. Braking is by a 320 mm disc at the front and a 298 mm disc at the rear, with dual-channel ABS. ABS on both wheels keeps either tyre from locking under hard braking. It rides on 19-inch front and 16-inch rear alloy wheels with tubeless tyres — 130/60 - B19 at the front and 150/80 - R16 at the rear.
The seat is 680 mm off the ground, which is low and makes it easy to put your feet down. It weighs 249 kg ready to ride, which is heavy, so parking and tight U-turns need care. Ground clearance is 113 mm — low, so take speed breakers and steep ramps slowly. It is 2,206 mm long, with 1,562 mm between the axles. It carries 13 L of fuel.
Equipment includes 4 " TFT Display, an LED headlamp, USB charging port, call and SMS alerts, gear position indicator and low fuel indicator. Safety equipment includes engine kill switch, side-stand engine cut-off and traction control.
For the Indian 101 Scout, Mechiee offers a fixed ₹15,999 doorstep service.
Its low seat also makes it approachable for shorter and newer riders. With this much performance, it is better as a step-up bike than a first bike.
Its chain drive needs regular cleaning, lubrication and slack adjustment.
