The Hero Xtreme 160R is a performance motorcycle from Hero MotoCorp. It was launched in 2020 and is still on sale. With a 163 cc engine it sits in the 150–250 cc class.
Power comes from a 163 cc single-cylinder air-cooled fuel-injected engine that makes 15 PS at 8,500 rpm and 14 Nm of torque at 6,500 rpm. Its stroke is longer than its bore (57.3mm x 63.3mm), a long-stroke layout that generally favours low-down pulling power. Divide power by kerb weight and it has about 108 PS per tonne; by that measure, there is enough go for confident city riding and relaxed highway cruising. The claimed top speed is 115 km/h. It has electric start.
It has a 5-speed manual gearbox with a 1-down, 4-up shift pattern, and a chain carries drive to the rear wheel. It uses a wet multi-plate clutch.
It is built around a tubular underbone diamond type frame. Suspension is by telescopic, 37 mm forks at the front and monoshock, 7-step adjustable at the rear. Braking is by a disc at the front and a disc at the rear, with single-channel ABS. Single-channel ABS works on the front wheel, which does most of the stopping. It rides on 17-inch alloy wheels with tubeless tyres — 100/80-17 at the front and 130/70-17 at the rear.
The seat is 790 mm off the ground, which is about average and suits most riders. It weighs 139.5 kg ready to ride. Ground clearance is 167 mm — enough for most speed breakers. It is 2,029 mm long, with 1,327 mm between the axles. Its 12 L fuel tank and claimed mileage of 47.38-55.47 kmpl work out to roughly 666 km per tankful on paper; real-world range is usually lower.
Equipment includes a digital instrument console, an LED headlamp, drag timer, wide rear tyre, USB charging and sporty muffler cover.
The manufacturer's warranty is 5 years or 70,000 km, whichever comes first. It comes in 2 colours. For the Hero Xtreme 160R, Mechiee offers a fixed ₹1,399 doorstep service.
Its chain drive needs regular cleaning, lubrication and slack adjustment.
