The Ducati Multistrada V2 is an adventure tourer motorcycle from Ducati. It is currently on sale. Adventure bikes are built to travel long distances on good and bad roads alike, typically with long-travel suspension and an upright riding position. With a 937 cc engine it sits in the big-bike, 800 cc-plus class.
Power comes from a 937 cc twin-cylinder liquid-cooled fuel-injected engine that makes 115.56 PS at 10,750 rpm and 92 Nm of torque at 8,250 rpm. Its bore is wider than its stroke (96 mm x 61.5 mm), a short-stroke layout that generally favours higher revs. Divide power by kerb weight and it has about 581 PS per tonne; by that measure, its performance is at superbike level and rewards an experienced rider. The claimed top speed is 182 km/h. It has electric start.
It has a 6-speed manual gearbox with a 1-down, 5-up shift pattern, and a chain carries drive to the rear wheel. Its slipper clutch lightens the lever and stops the rear wheel hopping when you downshift hard.
It is built around an aluminium monocoque frame. At the front, the suspension is 45 mm fully adjustable mechanical fork, compression and rebound damping manual adjustment, travel - 170 mm. At the rear, it is fully adjustable monoshock, remote spring preload adjustment, aluminium Double-sided swingarm, travel - 170 mm. Braking is by a 320 mm disc at the front and a 265 mm disc at the rear, with dual-channel ABS. ABS on both wheels keeps either tyre from locking under hard braking. It rides on 19-inch front and 17-inch rear alloy wheels with tubeless tyres — 120/70 ZR19 at the front and 170/60 ZR17 at the rear.
The seat is 830 mm off the ground, which is on the tall side, so shorter riders may want to try it first. It weighs 199 kg ready to ride, which is on the heavy side, so moving it by hand takes some effort. Ground clearance is 170 mm — enough for most speed breakers. It is 2,260 mm long, with 1,572.5 mm between the axles. Its 19 L fuel tank and claimed mileage of 16.9 kmpl work out to roughly 321 km per tankful on paper; real-world range is usually lower.
Equipment includes a digital instrument console, an LED headlamp, turn-by-turn navigation, USB charging port, cruise control, quickshifter, daytime running lamps and windscreen. Safety equipment includes engine kill switch, traction control and low fuel indicator. It has four riding modes: Sports, Touring, Urban and Enduro.
The manufacturer's warranty is 2 years. For the Ducati Multistrada V2, Mechiee offers a fixed ₹19,999 doorstep service.
It is best suited to long-distance touring and roads of mixed quality. With this much performance, it is better as a step-up bike than a first bike.
Recommended tyre pressures are 34 psi front and 34 psi rear riding alone, and 36 psi front and 42 psi rear with a pillion. Its chain drive needs regular cleaning, lubrication and slack adjustment.
