The Ducati Hypermotard 950 is a motorcycle from Ducati. It is currently on sale. With a 937 cc engine it sits in the big-bike, 800 cc-plus class.
Power comes from a 937 cc twin-cylinder liquid-cooled engine that makes 112.6 bhp at 9,000 rpm and 96 Nm of torque at 7,250 rpm. Its bore is wider than its stroke (94 mm x 67.5 mm), a short-stroke layout that generally favours higher revs. Divide power by kerb weight and it has about 571 PS per tonne; by that measure, its performance is at superbike level and rewards an experienced rider. The claimed top speed is 316 km/h. It has electric start.
It has a 6-speed manual gearbox with a 1-down, 5-up shift pattern, and a chain carries drive to the rear wheel. Its slipper clutch lightens the lever and stops the rear wheel hopping when you downshift hard.
It is built around a tubular steel trellis frame. At the front, the suspension is marzocchi aluminum fully adjustable, upside-down 45mm forks. At the rear, it is progressive linkage with adjustable spring preload and rebound damping sachs monoshock. Braking is by a 320 mm disc at the front and a 245 mm disc at the rear, with dual-channel ABS. ABS on both wheels keeps either tyre from locking under hard braking. It rides on 17-inch alloy wheels with tubeless tyres — 120/70 - ZR17 at the front and 180/55 - ZR17 at the rear.
The seat is 870 mm off the ground, which is tall — shorter riders should try it before buying. It weighs 200 kg ready to ride, which is on the heavy side, so moving it by hand takes some effort. Ground clearance is 215 mm — plenty for broken roads and tall speed breakers. It is 2,145 mm long, with 1,493 mm between the axles. Its 14.5 L fuel tank and claimed mileage of 19.6 kmpl work out to roughly 284 km per tankful on paper; real-world range is usually lower.
Equipment includes 4.3 " TFT Display, an LED headlamp, USB charging port, call and SMS alerts, distance-to-empty readout, gear position indicator, quickshifter, real-time mileage indicator, service due indicator and shift light, among others. Safety equipment includes engine kill switch, side-stand engine cut-off, side-stand warning, hazard light switch, traction control and malfunction indicator. It has two riding modes: Sport and Touring and Urban.
Warranty terms: Unlimited km or 2 years. For the Ducati Hypermotard 950, Mechiee offers a fixed ₹19,999 doorstep service.
Its tall seat suits taller riders best. With this much performance, it is better as a step-up bike than a first bike.
Recommended tyre pressures are 33 psi front and 30 psi rear riding alone, and 36 psi front and 42 psi rear with a pillion. Its chain drive needs regular cleaning, lubrication and slack adjustment.
