The Ducati Multistrada V4 is a sports tourer motorcycle from Ducati. It is currently on sale. Sports tourers combine a sporty engine with the comfort and weather protection to cover long distances. With a 1,158 cc engine it sits in the big-bike, 800 cc-plus class.
Power comes from a 1,158 cc 4-cylinder liquid-cooled fuel-injected engine that makes 169.9 PS at 10,500 rpm and 125 Nm of torque at 8,750 rpm. Peak torque comes high up, at 8,750 rpm, so it rewards revving. Its bore is wider than its stroke (83 mm x 53.5 mm), a short-stroke layout that generally favours higher revs. Divide power by kerb weight and it has about 708 PS per tonne; by that measure, its performance is at superbike level and rewards an experienced rider. The claimed top speed is 180 km/h. It has electric start.
It has a 6-speed manual gearbox with a 1-down, 5-up shift pattern, and a chain carries drive to the rear wheel. Its slipper clutch lightens the lever and stops the rear wheel hopping when you downshift hard.
It is built around an aluminum monocoque frame. At the front, the suspension is Ø 50 mm fully adjustable usd fork. At the rear, it is fully adjustable monoshock, remote spring preload adjustment, aluminium doublesided swingarm. Braking is by a 320 mm disc at the front and a 265 mm disc at the rear, with dual-channel ABS. ABS on both wheels keeps either tyre from locking under hard braking. It rides on 19-inch front and 17-inch rear light alloy cast wheels with tubeless tyres — 120/70-19 at the front and 170/60-17 at the rear.
The seat is 840 mm off the ground, which is on the tall side, so shorter riders may want to try it first. It weighs 240 kg ready to ride, which is heavy, so parking and tight U-turns need care. Ground clearance is 220 mm — plenty for broken roads and tall speed breakers. It is 2,301 mm long, with 1,567 mm between the axles. Its 22 L fuel tank and claimed mileage of 15 kmpl work out to roughly 330 km per tankful on paper; real-world range is usually lower.
Equipment includes a digital instrument console, an LED headlamp and windscreen. Safety equipment includes traction control.
The manufacturer's warranty is 2 years. For the Ducati Multistrada V4, Mechiee offers a fixed ₹24,999 doorstep service.
It is best suited to long-distance touring and roads of mixed quality. With this much performance, it is better as a step-up bike than a first bike.
Recommended tyre pressures are 36 psi front and 42 psi rear, solo or with a pillion. Its chain drive needs regular cleaning, lubrication and slack adjustment.
