The TVS Raider 125 is a commuter motorcycle from TVS Motor. It was launched in 2021 and is still on sale. Commuter bikes are built for everyday riding: economical, easy to handle and inexpensive to run and maintain. With a 124.76 cc engine it sits in the 125–150 cc class.
Power comes from a 124.76 cc single-cylinder air- and oil-cooled engine that makes 8.37 kW at 7,500 rpm and 11.2 Nm of torque at 6,000 rpm. Its stroke is longer than its bore (53.5 mm x 55.5 mm), a long-stroke layout that generally favours low-down pulling power. Divide power by kerb weight and it has about 93 PS per tonne; by that measure, there is enough go for confident city riding and relaxed highway cruising. The claimed top speed is 99 km/h. It has electric start.
It has a 5-speed manual gearbox with a 1-down, 5-up shift pattern, and a chain carries drive to the rear wheel. It uses a wet multi-plate clutch.
It is built around a single cradle tubular frame. Suspension is by telescopic forks at the front and monoshock, 5-step adjustable, gas charged at the rear. Braking is by a 240 mm disc at the front and a 200 mm disc at the rear, with a combined braking system (SBT). Using the rear brake lever also applies some front brake, which shortens stops for riders who lean on the rear brake. It rides on 17-inch alloy wheels with tubeless tyres.
The seat is 780 mm off the ground, which is about average and suits most riders. It weighs 123 kg ready to ride. Ground clearance is 180 mm — enough for most speed breakers. It is 2,070 mm long, with 1,326 mm between the axles. Its 10 L fuel tank and claimed mileage of 56.7 kmpl work out to roughly 567 km per tankful on paper; real-world range is usually lower.
Equipment includes a digital instrument console, an LED headlamp and iGO Assist (applicable variant). Safety equipment includes SBT, side-stand warning and automatic headlamp on.
The manufacturer's warranty is 5 years/60000 km. It comes with 3 free services, the first due at 750-1000 km or 30-45 days. For the TVS Raider 125, Mechiee offers a fixed ₹899 doorstep service.
It is best suited to daily commuting and riders who put running costs first. Its low seat also makes it approachable for shorter and newer riders.
Recommended tyre pressures are 25 psi front and 28 psi rear riding alone, and 25 psi front and 32 psi rear with a pillion. The published service intervals are 1st service at 750-1000 km or 30-45 days, 2nd service at 6000 km or 180 days and 3rd service at 12000 km or 540 days. Its chain drive needs regular cleaning, lubrication and slack adjustment.
