The Kawasaki Versys 1100 is a motorcycle from Kawasaki. It is currently on sale. With a 1,099 cc engine it sits in the big-bike, 800 cc-plus class.
Power comes from a 1,099 cc 4-cylinder liquid-cooled engine that makes 132.76 bhp at 9,000 rpm and 112 Nm of torque at 7,600 rpm. Its bore is wider than its stroke (77 mm x 59 mm), a short-stroke layout that generally favours higher revs. Divide power by kerb weight and it has about 524 PS per tonne; by that measure, its performance is at superbike level and rewards an experienced rider. It has electric start.
It has a 6-speed manual gearbox with a 1-down, 5-up shift pattern, and a chain carries drive to the rear wheel. Its slipper clutch lightens the lever and stops the rear wheel hopping when you downshift hard.
It is built around a Twin-Tube aluminium frame. At the front, the suspension is inverted fork with adjustable rebound damping, and spring preload adjustability. At the rear, it is horizontal Back-link, gas-charged shock, rebound damping, and remote spring preload adjustability. Braking is by a 310 mm disc at the front and a 260 mm disc at the rear, with dual-channel ABS. ABS on both wheels keeps either tyre from locking under hard braking. It rides on 17-inch alloy wheels with tubeless tyres — 120/70 - ZR17 at the front and 180/55 - ZR17 at the rear.
The seat is 820 mm off the ground, which is about average and suits most riders. It weighs 257 kg ready to ride, which is heavy, so parking and tight U-turns need care. Ground clearance is 150 mm — adequate, though tall speed breakers need care. It is 2,270 mm long, with 1,520 mm between the axles. Its 21 L fuel tank and claimed mileage of 17.8 kmpl work out to roughly 374 km per tankful on paper; real-world range is usually lower.
Equipment includes a semi-digital with brightness control instrument console, an LED headlamp, distance-to-empty readout, gear position indicator, quickshifter, real-time mileage indicator, service due indicator, shift light, engine temperature indicator and low fuel indicator, among others. Safety equipment includes engine kill switch, side-stand engine cut-off, side-stand warning, hazard light switch, traction control and malfunction indicator. It has two riding modes: Rain and Road and Sport.
The manufacturer's warranty is 36,000 km or 3 years. For the Kawasaki Versys 1100, Mechiee offers a fixed ₹14,999 doorstep service.
With this much performance, it is better as a step-up bike than a first bike.
Recommended tyre pressures are 36 psi front and 42 psi rear, solo or with a pillion. Its chain drive needs regular cleaning, lubrication and slack adjustment.
