The Kawasaki Versys 1000 is an adventure tourer motorcycle from Kawasaki. It was launched in 2015 and has since been discontinued (production ended around 2024). Mechiee still services it at your doorstep. Adventure bikes are built to travel long distances on good and bad roads alike, typically with long-travel suspension and an upright riding position. With a 1,043 cc engine it sits in the big-bike, 800 cc-plus class.
Power comes from a 1,043 cc 4-cylinder liquid-cooled fuel-injected engine that makes 120 PS at 9,000 rpm and 102 Nm of torque at 7,500 rpm. Its bore is wider than its stroke (77 mm x 56 mm), a short-stroke layout that generally favours higher revs. Divide power by kerb weight and it has about 471 PS per tonne; by that measure, its performance is at superbike level and rewards an experienced rider. The claimed top speed is 240 km/h. It has electric start.
It has a 6-speed manual gearbox, and a chain carries drive to the rear wheel. Its slipper clutch lightens the lever and stops the rear wheel hopping when you downshift hard.
Its frame is Twin-tube, aluminium. At the front, the suspension is ø43 mm inverted fork with rebound damping (right-side) and spring preload adjustability / 150 mm. At the rear, it is horizontal Back-link, gas-charged, with rebound damping and remote spring preload adjustability / 152 mm. Braking is by twin 310 mm discs at the front and a 250 mm disc at the rear, with dual-channel ABS. ABS on both wheels keeps either tyre from locking under hard braking. It rides on 17-inch alloy wheels with tubeless tyres — 120/70-ZR17 at the front and 180/55-ZR17 at the rear.
The seat is 820 mm off the ground, which is about average and suits most riders. It weighs 255 kg ready to ride, which is heavy, so parking and tight U-turns need care. Ground clearance is 150 mm — adequate, though tall speed breakers need care. It is 2,270 mm long, with 1,520 mm between the axles. It carries 21 L of fuel.
Equipment includes an analogue and digital instrument console, an LED headlamp, cruise control and windscreen. Safety equipment includes traction control and low fuel indicator.
For the Kawasaki Versys 1000, Mechiee offers a fixed ₹14,999 doorstep service.
It is best suited to long-distance touring and roads of mixed quality. With this much performance, it is better as a step-up bike than a first bike.
Its chain drive needs regular cleaning, lubrication and slack adjustment.
