The Yamaha Aerox 155 is a scooter from Yamaha. It was launched in 2021 and is still on sale. Scooters are made for easy city riding: automatic, step-through and usually with storage under the seat. With a 155 cc engine it sits in the larger, 150 cc-plus scooter class.
Power comes from a 155 cc single-cylinder liquid-cooled fuel-injected engine that makes 15 PS at 8,000 rpm and 13.9 Nm of torque at 6,500 rpm. Divide power by kerb weight and it has about 119 PS per tonne; by that measure, there is enough go for confident city riding and relaxed highway cruising. The claimed top speed is 111 km/h. It has electric start.
It uses an automatic (CVT) transmission, so there are no gears or clutch to work — you twist the throttle and go.
It is built around an underbone frame. Suspension is by telescopic fork at the front and unit swing at the rear. Braking is by a 230 mm disc at the front and a 130 mm drum at the rear, with single-channel ABS. Single-channel ABS works on the front wheel, which does most of the stopping. It rides on 14-inch alloy wheels with tubeless tyres — 110/80-14 at the front and 140/70-14 at the rear.
The seat is 790 mm off the ground, which is about average and suits most riders. It weighs 126 kg ready to ride. Ground clearance is 145 mm — adequate, though tall speed breakers need care. It is 1,980 mm long, with 1,350 mm between the axles. Its 5.5 L fuel tank and claimed mileage of 40 kmpl work out to roughly 220 km per tankful on paper; real-world range is usually lower.
Equipment includes a digital instrument console, an LED headlamp, USB charging port, call and SMS alerts, mobile app connectivity, daytime running lamps and real-time mileage indicator. Safety equipment includes side-stand warning, engine kill switch, hazard light switch, traction control, low fuel indicator and malfunction indicator.
The manufacturer's warranty is 2 years or 30,000 km. It comes with 4 free services, the first due at 1000 km or 30 days. For the Yamaha Aerox 155, Mechiee offers a fixed ₹1,249 doorstep service.
It is best suited to city errands and riders who would rather not shift gears.
Recommended tyre pressures are 29 psi front and 33 psi rear, solo or with a pillion. The published service intervals are 1st service at 1000 km or 30 days, 2nd service at 4000 km or 150 days, 3rd service at 7000 km or 270 days and 4th service at 10000 km or 390 days.
