The Suzuki Access 125 is a scooter from Suzuki. It was launched in 2007 and is still on sale. Scooters are made for easy city riding: automatic, step-through and usually with storage under the seat. With a 124 cc engine it sits in the 125 cc scooter class.
Power comes from a 124 cc single-cylinder air-cooled fuel-injected engine that makes 8.42 PS at 6,500 rpm and 10.2 Nm of torque at 5,000 rpm. Peak torque arrives low in the rev range, at 5,000 rpm, which makes it relaxed to ride in traffic. Its stroke is longer than its bore (52.5 mm x 57.4 mm), a long-stroke layout that generally favours low-down pulling power. Divide power by kerb weight and it has about 79 PS per tonne; by that measure, there is enough go for confident city riding and relaxed highway cruising. The claimed top speed is 90 km/h. It has both electric and kick start.
It uses an automatic (CVT) transmission, so there are no gears or clutch to work — you twist the throttle and go.
It is built around an underbone frame. Suspension is by telescopic forks at the front and swing arm at the rear. Braking is by a disc at the front and a drum at the rear, with a combined braking system (CBS). Using the rear brake lever also applies some front brake, which shortens stops for riders who lean on the rear brake. It rides on 12-inch front and 10-inch rear alloy wheels with tubeless tyres — 90/90-12 at the front and 90/100-10 at the rear.
The seat is 856 mm off the ground, which is on the tall side, so shorter riders may want to try it first. It weighs 106 kg ready to ride, light enough to push around and park easily. Ground clearance is 160 mm — enough for most speed breakers. It is 1,835 mm long, with 1,260 mm between the axles. Its 5.3 L fuel tank and claimed mileage of 45-52.45 kmpl work out to roughly 278 km per tankful on paper; real-world range is usually lower.
Equipment includes a digital instrument console, an LED headlamp, USB charging port, 24.4 L under-seat storage, front storage box and parking brake. Safety equipment includes side-stand engine cut-off and hazard warning lights.
The manufacturer's warranty is 2 years or 24,000 km. It comes with 4 free services, the first due at 750-1000 km or 30-45 days. For the Suzuki Access 125, Mechiee offers a fixed ₹899 doorstep service.
It is best suited to city errands and riders who would rather not shift gears. Its tall seat suits taller riders best.
Recommended tyre pressures are 22 psi front and 29 psi rear riding alone, and 22 psi front and 36 psi rear with a pillion. The published service intervals are 1st service at 750-1000 km or 30-45 days, 2nd service at 3500-4000 km or 120-135 days, 3rd service at 7500-8000 km or 240-255 days and 4th service at 11500-12000 km or 365-380 days.
