The Honda NX500 is a motorcycle from Honda. It is currently on sale. With a 471 cc engine it sits in the middleweight 450–800 cc class.
Power comes from a 471 cc twin-cylinder liquid-cooled engine that makes 46.9 bhp at 8,600 rpm and 43 Nm of torque at 6,500 rpm. Divide power by kerb weight and it has about 243 PS per tonne; by that measure, it is lively, with easy overtakes and relaxed highway speeds. It has electric start.
It has a 6-speed manual gearbox with a 1-down, 5-up shift pattern, and a chain carries drive to the rear wheel.
It is built around a steel diamond frame. Suspension is by showa 41mm SFF-BP upside-down (USD) front forks at the front and Pro-Link mono-suspension at the rear. Braking is by a 296 mm disc at the front and a 240 mm disc at the rear, with dual-channel ABS. ABS on both wheels keeps either tyre from locking under hard braking. It rides on 19-inch front and 17-inch rear alloy wheels with tubeless tyres — 110/80 - R19 at the front and 160/60 - R17 at the rear.
The seat is 830 mm off the ground, which is on the tall side, so shorter riders may want to try it first. It weighs 196 kg ready to ride, which is on the heavy side, so moving it by hand takes some effort. Ground clearance is 181 mm — enough for most speed breakers. It is 2,165 mm long, with 1,447 mm between the axles. It carries 17.5 L of fuel.
Equipment includes 5 " TFT Display with Brightness Control, an LED headlamp, call and SMS alerts, gear position indicator, shift light and low fuel indicator. Safety equipment includes engine kill switch, side-stand engine cut-off, side-stand warning, traction control and malfunction indicator.
For the Honda NX500, Mechiee offers a fixed ₹2,199 doorstep service.
Recommended tyre pressures are 29 psi front and 36 psi rear, solo or with a pillion. Its chain drive needs regular cleaning, lubrication and slack adjustment.
