The Vespa VXL 150 is a scooter from Vespa. It has been discontinued (production ended around 2025). Mechiee still services it at your doorstep. Scooters are made for easy city riding: automatic, step-through and usually with storage under the seat. With a 150 cc engine it sits in the larger, 150 cc-plus scooter class.
Power comes from a 150 cc single-cylinder air-cooled carburetted engine that makes 10.19 PS at 6,750 rpm and 10.9 Nm of torque at 5,000 rpm. Peak torque arrives low in the rev range, at 5,000 rpm, which makes it relaxed to ride in traffic. Divide power by kerb weight and it has about 89 PS per tonne; by that measure, there is enough go for confident city riding and relaxed highway cruising. The claimed top speed is 90 km/h. It has both electric and kick start.
It uses an automatic (CVT) transmission, so there are no gears or clutch to work — you twist the throttle and go.
It is built around a monocoque steel body construction frame. At the front, the suspension is aircraft derived single side arm with Anti-Dive characteristics forks. At the rear, it is Dual-Effect hydraulic shock absorber. Braking is by a 200 mm disc at the front and a 140 mm drum at the rear. It rides on 11-inch front and 10-inch rear alloy wheels with tubeless tyres — 110/70-11 at the front and 120/70-10 at the rear.
The seat is 770 mm off the ground, which is low and makes it easy to put your feet down. It weighs 115 kg ready to ride, light enough to push around and park easily. Ground clearance is 155 mm — adequate, though tall speed breakers need care. It is 1,770 mm long, with 1,290 mm between the axles. Its 6.5 L fuel tank and claimed mileage of 45 kmpl work out to roughly 293 km per tankful on paper; real-world range is usually lower.
Equipment includes an analogue and digital instrument console, a halogen headlamp, turn-by-turn navigation and under-seat storage. Safety equipment includes low fuel indicator.
The manufacturer's warranty is 2 years or 24,000 km. For the Vespa VXL 150, Mechiee offers a fixed ₹899 doorstep service.
It is best suited to city errands and riders who would rather not shift gears. Its low seat also makes it approachable for shorter and newer riders.
Being carburetted, it benefits from an occasional carburettor clean, especially if it has stood unused.
