The BMW Motorrad F 900 R is a superbike from BMW Motorrad. It has been discontinued (production ended around 2024). Mechiee still services it at your doorstep. Superbikes are the fastest, most powerful road-going sports bikes. With a 895 cc engine it sits in the big-bike, 800 cc-plus class.
Power comes from a 895 cc twin-cylinder liquid-cooled fuel-injected engine that makes 104.6 PS at 8,500 rpm and 92 Nm of torque at 6,500 rpm. Its bore is wider than its stroke (86 mm x 77 mm), a short-stroke layout that generally favours higher revs. Divide power by kerb weight and it has about 496 PS per tonne; by that measure, its performance is at superbike level and rewards an experienced rider. The claimed top speed is 200 km/h. It has electric start.
It has a 6-speed manual gearbox, and a chain carries drive to the rear wheel. It uses a wet multi-plate clutch.
Its frame is Bridge-type frame, steel shell construction. At the front, the suspension is Upside-down telescopic fork, Ø 43 mm. At the rear, it is cast aluminium dual swing arm, central spring strut, spring pre-load hydraulically adjustable, rebound damping adjustable. Braking is by twin 320 mm discs at the front and a 265 mm disc at the rear, with dual-channel ABS. ABS on both wheels keeps either tyre from locking under hard braking. It rides on 17-inch cast aluminium wheels with tubeless tyres — 120/70-ZR-17 at the front and 180/55-ZR-17 at the rear.
The seat is 815 mm off the ground, which is about average and suits most riders. It weighs 211 kg ready to ride, which is on the heavy side, so moving it by hand takes some effort. Ground clearance is 180 mm — enough for most speed breakers. It is 2,140 mm long, with 1,518 mm between the axles. It carries 13 L of fuel.
Equipment includes a digital instrument console, an LED headlamp and USB charging port. Safety equipment includes low fuel indicator.
The manufacturer's warranty is 3 years/Unlimited kms. For the BMW Motorrad F 900 R, Mechiee offers a fixed ₹11,999 doorstep service.
It is best suited to riders who want performance and sharp handling. With this much performance, it is better as a step-up bike than a first bike.
Its chain drive needs regular cleaning, lubrication and slack adjustment.
