The Bajaj Pulsar NS160 is a sports motorcycle from Bajaj Auto. It was launched in 2017 and is still on sale. Sports bikes put performance first, usually with a sportier riding position and sharper handling than everyday bikes. With a 160.3 cc engine it sits in the 150–250 cc class.
Power comes from a 160.3 cc single-cylinder air- and oil-cooled fuel-injected engine that makes 17.03 bhp at 9,000 rpm and 14.6 Nm of torque at 7,250 rpm. Its stroke is longer than its bore (58 mm x 60.7 mm), a long-stroke layout that generally favours low-down pulling power. Divide power by kerb weight and it has about 114 PS per tonne; by that measure, there is enough go for confident city riding and relaxed highway cruising. The claimed top speed is 120 km/h. It has both electric and kick start.
It has a 5-speed manual gearbox with a 1-down, 4-up shift pattern, and a chain carries drive to the rear wheel. It uses a wet multi-plate clutch.
It is built around a perimeter frame. Suspension is by telescopic fork at the front and monoshock at the rear. Braking is by a disc at the front and a disc at the rear, with single-channel ABS. Single-channel ABS works on the front wheel, which does most of the stopping. It rides on 17-inch alloy wheels with tubeless tyres — 100/80-17 at the front and 130/70-17 at the rear.
The seat is 805 mm off the ground, which is about average and suits most riders. It weighs 152 kg ready to ride. Ground clearance is 170 mm — enough for most speed breakers. It is 2,017 mm long, with 1,372 mm between the axles. Its 12 L fuel tank and claimed mileage of 52.2 kmpl work out to roughly 626 km per tankful on paper; real-world range is usually lower.
Equipment includes a digital instrument console, an LED headlamp, Bluetooth connectivity, turn-by-turn navigation, USB charging port, call and SMS alerts, distance-to-empty readout, gear position indicator, mobile app connectivity and daytime running lamps, among others. Safety equipment includes side-stand warning, engine kill switch, low fuel indicator and malfunction indicator.
The manufacturer's warranty is 5 years or 75,000 km. It comes with 3 free services, the first due at 500-750 km or 30-45 days. For the Bajaj Pulsar NS160, Mechiee offers a fixed ₹1,199 doorstep service.
It is best suited to riders who want performance and sharp handling.
Recommended tyre pressures are 25 psi front and 28 psi rear riding alone, and 25 psi front and 32 psi rear with a pillion. The published service intervals are 1st service at 500-750 km or 30-45 days, 2nd service at 4500-5000 km or 240 days and 3rd service at 9500-10000 km or 360 days. Its chain drive needs regular cleaning, lubrication and slack adjustment.
