The Bajaj Dominar 250 is a sports motorcycle from Bajaj Auto. It was launched in 2020 and is still on sale. Sports bikes put performance first, usually with a sportier riding position and sharper handling than everyday bikes. With a 248.8 cc engine it sits in the 150–250 cc class.
Power comes from a 248.8 cc single-cylinder liquid-cooled fuel-injected engine that makes 27 PS at 8,500 rpm and 23.5 Nm of torque at 6,500 rpm. Divide power by kerb weight and it has about 150 PS per tonne; by that measure, it is lively, with easy overtakes and relaxed highway speeds. The claimed top speed is 132 km/h. It has electric start.
It has a 6-speed manual gearbox with a 1-down, 5-up shift pattern, and a chain carries drive to the rear wheel. Its slipper clutch lightens the lever and stops the rear wheel hopping when you downshift hard.
It is built around a beam type perimeter frame. Suspension is by telescopic, 37 mm USD fork at the front and Multi-step adjustable monoshocks with nitrox at the rear. Braking is by a 300 mm disc at the front and a 230 mm disc at the rear, with dual-channel ABS. ABS on both wheels keeps either tyre from locking under hard braking. It rides on 17-inch alloy wheels with tubeless tyres — 100/80-17 at the front and 130/70-17 at the rear.
The seat is 800 mm off the ground, which is about average and suits most riders. It weighs 180 kg ready to ride, which is on the heavy side, so moving it by hand takes some effort. Ground clearance is 157 mm — adequate, though tall speed breakers need care. It is 2,156 mm long, with 1,453 mm between the axles. Its 13 L fuel tank and claimed mileage of 32 kmpl work out to roughly 416 km per tankful on paper; real-world range is usually lower.
Equipment includes a digital instrument console, an LED headlamp, turn-by-turn navigation, USB charging port, call and SMS alerts, gear position indicator, daytime running lamps and service due indicator. Safety equipment includes side-stand warning, engine kill switch, traction control, low fuel indicator and malfunction indicator. It has four riding modes: Rain, Road, Off-Road and Sports.
The manufacturer's warranty is 5 years or 75,000 km. It comes with 3 free services, the first due at 500-750 km or 30-45 days. For the Bajaj Dominar 250, Mechiee offers a fixed ₹1,499 doorstep service.
It is best suited to riders who want performance and sharp handling.
Recommended tyre pressures are 25 psi front and 28 psi rear riding alone, and 25 psi front and 32 psi rear with a pillion. The published service intervals are 1st service at 500-750 km or 30-45 days, 2nd service at 4500-5000 km or 240 days and 3rd service at 9500-10000 km or 360 days. Its chain drive needs regular cleaning, lubrication and slack adjustment.
